10th June 2010 - Grosvenor Casinos Gunwharf staff in abseil first.
On Saturday 26th June, head to the 558ft Spinnaker Tower to witness the brave team members from the Grosvenor Casinos Gunwharf Quays become some of the first members of public to abseil down the soaring building.
General Manager Paul Brady, Administrator Mel Newman along with bar team member Gemma Steel and Gaming Assistant Chris Watts will all be taking on the challenge to raise money for The Stroke Association.
They have a set target of £1400 to reach prior to the abseil, and are putting on a number of fundraising events involving both casino team members, and the local community.
The first is on the 14th June, as the casino head receptionist will daringly have her head shaved, as well as several other members of the team indulging in waxing and shaving to help meet the fundraising target. The casino will then open its doors on the 21st June for a Black Tie Event, with the proceeds also contributing towards the £1400. Tickets for the event are £30 each, including a drink upon arrival, a three course dinner and the chance to enjoy live entertainment.
The Stroke Association funds research into prevention, treatment and better methods of rehabilitation for stroke victims and their families. They provide advice and support as well as education to help increase public knowledge about strokes.
Michael Berkshire from The Stroke Association said, "We are so impressed with the dedication of the casino staff and are excited to see them tackle the abseil. We are thankful for all of their fundraising efforts and wish them the best of luck."
Paul Brady, General Manager of the Grosvenor Casinos Gunwharf Quays said, "We wanted to do something to raise money for this important cause. The team and I are all really excited about doing something quite unique and daring for charity. It's something we've never done before and can't wait to see how the abseil goes on the day!"
