Grosvenor Casinos searches for its Queen of Hearts
Grosvenor Casino Walsall is to host its first ever female only poker
tournament in conjunction with the Women’s Poker Club (WPC). This highly
anticipated event is set to take place on Saturday 17th June.
Paul Davies, General Manager at Grosvenor Casino Walsall comments: "We
already have a growing female poker base and have noticed that interest
from the female players has heightened over the last year. Whether this
interest is due to the media hype around Poker we don’t know but it’s great
to have more females getting involved and provide more of a challenge to
what are usually male dominated events.
"Most of the players that come to us have learnt to play online and are
looking to experience a real life, bricks and mortar casino. We’re thrilled
to offer them the chance to learn the skills required to look their
opponents in the eye across a poker table.”
The £50 no limit freeze out competition will be sponsored by Grosvenor’s
sister company Bluesqpoker.com who are offering the winner a seat at the
$1000 Ladies World Series of Poker Event which takes place in Vegas in
July. The event at Grosvenor Casino Walsall aims to attract players of all
levels to get involved from beginners to professional players.
Mike Butlin, Gaming Commercial Manager at Bluesqpoker.com comments: "Blue
Square Poker is proud to be supporting this women's only tournament at a
time when more and more women are learning and playing poker. We are sure
that the added 1st prize of an entry to the $1000 Ladies Event in Vegas
(plus flights and accommodation) will mean the event is as fiercely
contested as any other tournament".Grosvenor Casino Walsall is expecting
players to travel from all over the UK to attend this event.
Maryann Morrison, founder of Women's Poker Club comments: "Women’s Poker
Club is very excited to be working with Bluesqpoker.com and Grosvenor
Casinos on our first Women's only poker tournament in the UK. We welcome
all female players to join the tournament and experience what is guaranteed
to be a fabulous time.
The added prize of a trip to the World Series of Poker, is an excellent way
to show support to the growing demographic of female poker players in
Europe.” |
