The fifth leg of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) in Brighton came to a conclusion in the small hours of Monday morning with Dave Smith walking away with just over 100,000 pounds and a seat in the Grand Final later this year.

GUKPT: Walsall Day 1b
Another 120 players turned up at the Grosvenor Casino in Walsall yesterday to compete in this years 2nd leg of the GUKPT Tour. Amongst the runners were last month’s winner Praz Bansi, Grand Prix winner Ash Hussain and excricketer Ed Giddens. Unfortunately, we will not be having a repeat winner as Praz was knocked out with a couple of hours of play left.

GUKPT: Walsall Day 1a
The GUKPT second leg in Walsall kicked off yesterday with a record field for a 1,000 pound event in the UK In total 360 players will be vying it out to compete for the title of GUKPT Leg 2 Winner and follow in Praz Bansi’s footsteps. Day 1a saw the first of four days of poker action and included a field studded with familiar faces. Amongst those in attendance were Paul “Action” Jackson, Willie Tann and John Gale. Norwegian pros Henning Granstad and Tor Iversen also made the trip across the North Sea to try and claim the top prize of 120,000 pounds.

GUKPT Flush With Success
Due to the immense popularity of the first leg of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour held in Bolton last month all future events will now be extended to four days. The inaugural event in Bolton was originally due to have 160 runners, however, due to the sheer number of people qualifying online at Blue Square Poker and direct buy-ins, this was increased to 200 runners.

After three long hard days of poker in Bolton’s Grosvenor Casino London based professional Praz Bansi was finally crowned champion. Bansi outlasted 196 other fellow poker players to take down the £75,500 first prize and become the inaugural winner of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tournament (GUKPT).
