Tournament Rules

Our tournaments differ from the non-tournament (cash) games in several ways. In all tournaments, the following rules apply.

We have Single Table Tournaments for nine, six or two players. Two player tournaments are also known as Heads Up Tournaments. Single table tournaments can have turbo, speed or normal blind levels and can be limit, pot limit or no limit. They can also be satellite tournaments for which the prize is not cash, but a seat in a multi-table tournament. Details of these specifics are listed next to each tournament in the single table tournament lobby. For nine player tournaments prize money is paid to the top three finishers. For six player tournaments the winner and runner up are paid prize money and for Heads Up tournaments, only the winner.

  • If you fail to respond, or suffer a disconnection, there is no All-In protection.
  • You may not Sit Out. You may, instead, mark yourself as Away From Table.
  • If you time out due to disconnect, or failing to respond when your turn, you will automatically be marked as Away From Table
  • If you are in the Away From Table mode, your blind is paid, when appropriate, and you are folded. To return to playing mode, uncheck the Left Table box.
  • If you are in Away From Table mode you will only be eliminated from the tournament when you have lost all your chips and will still receive prize money if you are eliminated in a prize paying position while in Away From Table mode.
  • If more than one player is eliminated in the same hand, the player with the most chips before the hand started finishes higher. In the case where both players also have the same amount of chips before the hand, both players will tie for the position. If there is a tie between two or more players, the prizes they qualify for are split evenly between all tied players. For example, if two players tie for 2nd place, each player receives 50% of the second place prize and 50% of the third place prize.
  • If the small blind is eliminated in a hand then the player who was the big blind now posts the small blind and the player to his left posts the big blind. The button does not move on to the next player as this would cause a player to miss a blind.
  • If the big blind is eliminated in a hand then the player to their left now posts the big blind and there is no small blind for that hand. The button moves to the player who was the small blind. On the following hand the blinds will be posted as normal by the two players to the left of the button.

Single Table Tournaments

These rules apply to the single table tournaments:

  • As soon as the table is full, the game begins. These are also commonly referred to as Sit and Go games.
  • There are no break periods in single table tournaments.
  • You may leave the table any time prior to the start of the tournament without penalty.
  • Seating is at your choice. You may choose any open seat at a single table tournament. This will be your seat for the duration of the tournament.

Multi-table Tournaments

These rules apply to multi-table tournaments:

  • Multi-table tournaments are scheduled events with specified start times. You must register for the tournament prior to the start. Registration stops a few moments before the start of the tournament.
  • You will receive audio and visual reminders prior to the start and will be automatically seated at a table just before the start. Seating is random.
  • The software keeps tables balanced with regard to the number of players seated at each table. As players go broke this can cause an imbalance in the distribution of players, in which case you may be moved to and reseated at another table. This is done randomly, therefore you may experience reseating several times during a tournament.
  • The software closes tables as the number remaining players in the tournament reduces. You will be advised when the table at which you are seated is being closed. The break order is from highest numbered table for the tournament in descending order.
  • You may open and watch other tournament tables while you play.
  • The tournament lobby will show the number of players in the tournament, their current chip count, and the prize structure.
  • As Multi-table Tournaments take longer to complete than Single Table Tournaments, every hour there is a short 5 minute break.
  • Hand-for-hand dealing may be enacted during any tournament as is usual when there is only one player left to be eliminated before prizes are awarded. This renders the practice of slow-playing useless. During hand for hand play, all tables will be considered to be on the same hand until they all complete their hand in progress. Therefore, players eliminated at different tables may be considered to have been eliminated on the same hand.

Online Satellite Tournaments

The following rules apply to Satellite Tournaments only:

  • Only first place in the STT Satellite qualifiers gets a prize, being a seat in the MTT final.
  • If you play and win more than one STT Satellite qualifier, you win the cash value of the seat if you already have a seat in the Final.
  • You may register directly in the MTT Final, paying the full seat price.
  • If you have a seat in the MTT Final that you won, you may not unregister to take the cash value. If you directly purchased the seat in the Final, you may unregister and receive a refund for the buy-in and fee prior to the start of the MTT Final.
  • STT Satellite qualifiers will not begin within 2 hours of the Final. Anyone seated at an STT Satellite qualifier that has not started before the 2-hour cutoff will receive a refund and the STT will be cancelled. In the unlikely event a Satellite Single Table qualifier has not completed by the start of the Grand Final MTT, the winner of the Satellite STT will be awarded the cash value of the seat. This may take up to 48 hours to process.
  • You may purchase a seat in the MTT Final up until moments before the start of the MTT Final.

Live Tournament Qualifiers

The following rules apply to all online events where the main prize is a live tournament package*:

  • Players must use their package to play in the specified event or risk forfeiting the prize.
  • Only one package may be won for any individual event. Any additional packages won may be transferred to another player from the same cardroom but cannot be exchanged for cash.
  • Where applicable hotel accommodation will be arranged on behalf of the player. If this is not required the player may claim back this portion of the package as additional expenses.
  • Expenses will be credited directly into the player's poker account - travel arrangements to be made independently.
  • Package winners will receive an email from the Poker Management within 72 hours with full prize details.

* The above rules refer to iPoker Network events. The following variations apply for Blue Square/Grosvenor run GUKPT satellites:

  • Players may use their package for any GUKPT Main Event of the same value, providing adequate notice is given.
  • Carried over packages must be used within 6 months of being won unless given special dispensation - after this time the package will be declared void.
  • All packages are converted to a Sterling value based on the client exchange rate at the time won. Remainder after £1060 entry is deducted will be credited directly to winners' online poker balance as expenses.
  • Unwanted packages may be sold back to Blue Square/Grosvenor for cash at 90% of the total package value (subject to 6 months expiry clause above).

The poker room reserves the right to make manual adjustments to any payments in order to ensure that all players have received a fair settlement.

Tournament Disconnections

If for any reason a Player loses his/her connection, play will continue. Blinds and antes will continue to be posted automatically. A Player should log back on as soon as possible to continue play. Players will be blinded/anted out of the tournament if they do not reconnect.

Players MUST accept the risk of disconnection. This can and does occur. (Log back on and continue play as quickly as possible.) At no time will we assume responsibility for disconnected players regardless of cause. If a Player is disconnected during the play of a hand, they will be given a period of time in which to re-connect - about 30 seconds. If the player is not able to do so, their hand is folded unless they are "all in". If you choose to sit out, you are deemed 'away from the table' and will still receive cards that will be folded in turn. Blinds will also continue to be taken when appropriate. If you time-out or disconnect, you will be automatically marked 'away from the table' until you uncheck the appropriate box and re-join the game.
