Andrea Atzeni - Epsom Oaks Preview
Andrea Atzeni - Epsom Oaks Preview
BE HAPPY - had every chance in the Lingfield Oaks Trial, but that form still leaves her with lots to find with Eternal Hope, let alone the others.
BRIGHT DIAMOND - stepped up four furlongs in trip for her trial at Lingfield behind three of these, and was ridden as though stamina was a worry. Again, plenty of improvement needed.
CAERNARFON - a full sister to 6-7f winner and a half sister to a 7f winner. Very hard to recommend on account of stamina, and form.
ETERNAL HOPE - has done little wrong winning two of her three starts, all coming on the AW, latterly winning the Lingfield Oaks Trial with a bit to spare. Could have done no more than she has, but has yet to be tested at group level.
HEARTACHE TONIGHT - has looked a little outpaced at the finish over shorter in her last two races in France. Despite Recorder only racing as a two-year-old over 7f, as a son of Galileo, it is no surprise to see his progeny stay further than that, and there is a chance she could improve for another two furlongs.
MAMAN JOON - well regarded prior to her debut at Newbury on soft ground, bumping into an impressive winner who has disappointed since. Tough ask on just her second start.
RED RIDING HOOD - she has hinted that this extra two furlongs will suit in her last two starts over 10f, but they will need to.
RUNNING LION - steady progression winning last four starts, latterly on her first try at a mile and a quarter on soft ground. Another two furlongs should be okay - her Pour Moi half sister stayed well, but still has a little to prove.
SAVETHELASTDANCE - did not have to achieve much to win the Cheshire Oaks last time, but could not have been a more impressive winner. All three of her starts have come on soft / heavy, so perhaps the forecast quicker ground poses a new question, but her dam did win 10f Group 1s on firm ground.
SEA OF ROSES - Well behind Soul Sister in the Musidora last time after racing keenly and reportedly hanging left. Will need to settle better and the camber in the straight encourages hanging left!
SOUL SISTER - under the radar last time when running out a very impressive winner of the Musidora, travelling sweetly before quickening under minimal effort coming right away in the last furlong. One full brother and one three parts brother stayed 12f, and her strong travelling nature will suit this track.
Verdict: Stall 10 is not ideal, but I would be happy to chance SOUL SISTER as the bet to beat the favourite.
