An overall winner bet, or outright bet, in surfing involves predicting which surfer you think will win a surfing competition outright. It’s one of the simplest bets to make when you first start betting on surfing.
A head-to-head bet in surfing is super simple. It’s just a case of predicting which of two surfers will outperform the other in a competition. It doesn’t matter where they finish overall in the comp, just that they beat the other in the head-to-head.
A parlay bet is just another way of saying a multiple bet. With a parlay or multiple bet, you can combine two or more wagers into the same bet. An example could be the male winner of a surfing event and the female winner of the corresponding event. To win with a multiple, both bets need to come in.
The World Surf League (WSL) is the most popular league in surfing. It hosts both the Men’s and Women’s Championship Tours.
These competitions usually consist of several rounds of heats where surfers catch waves and are judged on their performance. The judges give each surfer a score based on a range of criteria including difficulty, power and flow of their surfing, as well as the overall impression they make on the judges.
The surfer with the highest score at the end of heat wins the heat, with multiple surfers progressing through to the next round. The event continues until only a few are left, with the surfer that wins the final heat winning the competition outright.

With a 5/1 bet, you’ll take home 5x your original stake on a winning bet. Say you put £10 on a 5/1 bet, and it wins. You win £50, and you get your original stake back too for a grand total of £60.
