For the best stag do weekend, look no further than the UK’s capital: London got a score of 9.6. It turns out it’s the best spot for a big session, with the most bars and clubs out of all the destinations we looked at. Not forgetting the most bar, pub, and club tours. Plus, with the most establishments where you can get a British meal, you and your mates can always rely on a full English the next morning.
If you’re looking for a lads’ holiday abroad, then the Czech capital of Prague or the Hungarian capital of Budapest are your best bet. They took second and third place on our ranking, with scores of 7.4 and 6.6 respectively. After London, Prague has the widest selection of bars and clubs while Budapest has the most bar, pub, and club tours.
THE BEST NIGHT OUT
London offers the widest choice of drinking establishments out of everywhere we looked, with 1,014 bars and clubs. If you want to go abroad then Prague is the next best: there are 620 bars and clubs. After that, it’s the sunny Spanish city of Madrid, where you can pick from 613 watering holes.
WHERE YOUR NIGHT OUT
CAN BE SORTED FOR YOU
Organising a stag can be a lot of pressure, so why not fall back on the likes of a brewery tour? London has the most bar, pub, and club tours of our destinations, with 52 you can join. On the continent, Budapest has 34 and across the pond, in Las Vegas, there are 32 to choose from.
WHERE YOU'LL KEEP
A stag do can get pretty pricey, so we looked at where it’s cheapest to get a meal, get a pint, and get a taxi back to your hotel. Sofia in Bulgaria is the best for low-cost beer (£1.09) and taxis (start at around 35p). Cancun, in Mexico, is close on beer, though – £1.20. For food, the Thai cities of Bangkok and Phuket serve the cheapest meals, at around £1.89 and £2.39 respectively.
WHERE CAN YOU
ESCAPE THE RAIN?
If you’re worried about rain getting in the way of the stag weekend then Las Vegas is the place: it only has an average of 2.21 days of rain a month. Closer to home, Benidorm has the second lowest amount of rainfall, with an average of 3.58 days per month, followed by Ibiza, with around 3.75 days. Those two are a little ahead of Valencia, Tenerife, Madrid, and Barcelona.
WHERE TO FIND YOUR HOME COMFORTS
Some people like to feel reminded of home while they’re away, knowing they’ll be able to find people who speak the same language, and that they can go out to eat familiar British food. We looked at the levels of English proficiency across all the destinations we’ve ranked, as well as where has the most establishments where you can buy a British meal.
Needless to say, many UK destinations came top of the list for both of these factors, with London, Leeds, Liverpool, and Manchester having the most establishments that serve British food. Looking overseas, you’re most likely to be able to buy British food in the Spanish-speaking destinations of Tenerife, Benidorm, and Ibiza, as these have the most restaurants serving British meals. In fact, with 146 restaurants serving British food, Tenerife has more than some UK towns.
For overseas destinations with high English proficiency, Ireland, and the USA are your best bet, followed by Zagreb in Croatia, and Riga in Latvia.
There’s a perfect stag do destination out there for everyone, with various locations around the world offering something to suit different tastes. While places like Prague and Budapest are great choices if you’re looking to go abroad, London is the best destination and proves you can have a fantastic stag do here in the UK. If you’re keeping things close to home, then why not kick off your big weekend at Grosvenor Casinos?
